Yoga is a mind-body practice rooted in ancient Indian philosophy. Yoga in Sanskrit is derived from the root word yuj, meaning to yoke, join, or unite. Thus, yoga can be understood as the practice and process of joining: the breath and the body, the bodily and the spiritual, our consciousness and the living moment at play.
Yoga is not a religion; it is not a system of beliefs but a system of disciplines, techniques, and guidances for living an enriched and embodied life, offered today with reverence for its five-thousand-year history.
Through practice, yoga offers the potential removal of the barriers that exist between us and the experience of being fully alive, fully present, and fully ourselves.

Yes. I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training with Yoga Farm Ithaca in 2023.

No matter your experience with yoga, you're welcome here. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or new to the practice, anyone can experience the benefits of practicing with me.
My cues will support your stability, alignment, and relaxation so you can enjoy the experience of simply being in your body. The poses will include variations for all bodies and abilities.
You can also expect the freedom to explore each pose as it feels best to you, the freedom to honor your mental and emotional states, and the freedom to be exactly as you are in each moment.

Anyone wishing to explore their body-mind connection, receive nourishment through embodied movement, and explore with curiosity and a beginner’s mind is welcome in my class.

If practicing with me online, please bring a yoga mat to class. If you don't have a yoga mat, a towel is a great option, or find a place to practice on a rug that provides slight cushioning.
Optional additional props include: yoga blocks (or two large books), a blanket, a pillow or cushion, a strap/scarf/tie, and anything else that will support your ability to be present in this class: your own music, a water bottle, affirmation cards, a journal...
If practicing with me in person, yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, and straps are provided at Frequency Wellness Space. You are always welcome to bring your own mat and props.

Practicing yoga online can be a very rewarding experience. It allows students flexibility in their location (like reserving a meeting room in your office for a mid-day class!) and additional privacy and safety. If you often find yourself comparing yourself to others, then practicing online can be a freeing and independent experience.
However, there is a balance. It can sometimes be "easier" to be distracted when taking a class online. I recommend placing your devices on Do Not Disturb and really focusing on our time together.
Students will be muted on Zoom. You are welcome to practice with your camera on or off. You will never be singled out for alignment or feedback about your pose.

Yes, please! Yoga is a beautiful practice and I look forward to sharing it with as many people as possible.

I teach at Frequency Wellness Space in Rochester, NY. Find directions here.
When you arrive for class, you may park on the street, in the lot directly across the street from Frequency, or in the lot at the corner of Elton and Atlantic. Please do not park in the Fiamma Centro lot.
The entrance to Frequency is down the driveway on the right side of the building. You will walk up a flight of stairs and the studio is the first door on the right. It will be open 15 minutes before class so you can come in, get settled in the space, and find center.

Lovely! Please contact me for a class pack bundle.

My class prices honor the exchange of energy and time I spend preparing for class, and the energy that students receive and cultivate in practice with me. However, capitalism removes nuance from the complicated conversation about privilege, access, and value.
I encourage you to explore the Green Bottle Sliding Scale by Alexis J. Cunningfolk as a money mindfulness practice. If you experience economic circumstances that prevent you from taking part in my classes, please contact me for financial flexibility rates.
About Beal
Through the ancient practice of yoga, with a trauma-informed lens, I help people, especially those most impacted by systemic oppression, who are experiencing challenges, misalignments, lack of fulfillment, and/or negativity in their lives, learn how to:
experience their whole selves, exactly as they are,
move through discomfort,
see themselves in the world by coming into their own awarenesses,
become willing to witness themselves and the world, and
connect with what they love about the world
…so that they are free to embody their own version of transcendence.
